Didsbury Library

Didsbury Library had been subject to vandalism for many years before restoration in 2009. Over half the windows had been boarded up or affected by this and a long term solution was required.

Over two hundred and seventy pieces of polycarbonate protection were required.  Many of these required cutting to the gothic head shapes of the mullions.  Each mullion head shape varied to the next, therefore individual templates had to be created for each opening.  This was fitted to both fixed and opening windows

We also refurbished the pivotal metal openers.  Some of these required workshop repairs as the joints had cracked and bottom rails decayed.

A small number of leaded lights were repaired whilst their metal frames were removed for work.
